Wow. I meant to take a bit of a break last week around my birthday–but I didn’t intend for it to go on so long. Let’s see, what have I been up to?
Well, on Wednesday of last week (my birthday) I had the awesome privilege of speaking at the coolest youth group I’ve ever been to. It was a Jr High group of, wow, I would estimate 250 teens. Seriously. That’s 6th-8th grade only. They had the most awesome set-up I’ve ever seen for a youth room. The worship was incredible–including the mosh pit–and the extra stuff like gaming stations and other activities proved that the leadership is in tune to what teenagers want and is willing to do what it takes to provide it.
The youth pastor, Chris, said “We are so blessed to have so much support and resources at our disposal to provide these kids such a great environment.” I just want to second that. Calvary Church: You’re doing it right!

I spoke to the group about how tolerance is really an unloving concept. If you truly believe that there’s only one way to the Father, then it’s unloving to pretend otherwise for the sake of “getting along”. It was a great time and a perfect way to spend my birthday.
But I was sick! I managed to medicate myself enough to get through the day–that and the awesome hospitality and tacos of my dear, sweet sista-friend, Cynthia. Once I made the 2.5 hour drive home, though, I crashed hard and resurfaced sometime over the weekend. Between me being sick and the triplets having colds, the week was kind of a bummer. But we’re finally on the mend.
Oh, can’t forget about the tests I had Friday and Monday. Both were final exams and the only grade I’d receive for the class. Sadly, I’d procrastinated (don’t do that!) and had to cram, cram, cram. They’re over, though. Phew.
